Pain Control

Why use Hypnosis for pain ?

Hypnotherapy is increasingly being used as an adjunct to other methods of pain control due to the documented success of the effects of hypnosis on pain.

PET scans have shown that hypnosis directly effects the brain in the anterior cingulate cortex - the area of the brain that tells us we are in pain. When a person is hypnotised the activity in this part of the brain is reduced and the pain we feel is also greatly reduced or can be barely perceptible.

Pain is a complex issue depending on perception and cause, therefore it is important to gain a full understanding of the nature of your pain and develop the best methods to use during hypnotherapy.

With pain control it is important to have the diagnosis of a doctor before treating any form of pain with hypnosis.

Hypnosis can also work tremendously well with post-operative pain, phantom limb pain and palliative care for the terminally ill.
