Treating phobias with hypnotherapy is very successful .Hypnosis is a wonderfully gentle tool to treat phobias. In a matter of 2 -4 sessions (on average) a phobia can be treated successfully. You will not, under any circumstances, be asked to face your fear. This is simply not necessary.
You might be wondering what a phobia is? and how did it start? To successfully treat a phobia you don't need to have these questions answered. However, it's interesting to know.
A phobia is an irrational fear to an object or event causing intense feelings of panic and distress and this is coupled with doing everything possible to avoid that situation. Having a healthy fear of , say, a nearby snake is acceptable especially if you aren't sure that it is poisonous or not. It becomes a phobic response when an image in a book or even the word triggers the same reaction as that is irrational because it poses no danger.
There are the common phobias such as the fear of flying, snakes, needles, dentists, spiders, enclosed spaces etc. However, you can have a phobia of anything that has existed. I came across someone who had a fear of the old fashioned toilets which had the very high cisterns ! It doesn't matter what the phobia is the fear experienced is very real.
Phobia's can begin in a number of ways, from a frightening experience, usually in childhood, a perceived frightening experience either on TV or in a book or learnt behaviour from a phobic parent , ( If the parents are afraid of the dentist then usually the children are too). Phobias to inanimate objects can be a result of being in a frightening or distressing situation and seeing a near by object then transferring that emotion of fear to that object so that after the event has past, even years later, seeing that object brings back feelings of distress .
While it is not necessary to understand the nature of a phobia's origin it can be explored through regression therapy under hypnosis. I can take you back to a time when it first began. This psychoanalytical technique can be used for your curiosity, however I would only suggest it if there was a resistance to my otherwise 98% successful technique.
