Night Terrors & Nightmares

There's a very marked difference between a night terror and a nightmare.

Both can leave you drained and with a strange cloud hanging over you the next day. Hypnotherapy, by using a number of diagnostic techniques, practical advice and hypnosis can be a tremendous help in reducing and even eliminating the frequency of both these occurrences.

By gaining access to the unconscious mind we can explore and extinguish the cause in a very gentle and measured way.

A nightmare is a dream, a movie or sequence of events which we may or may not be part of, but which is unpleasant or even terrifying to us. Hypnosis can be used to turn a nightmare into an ordinary dream.

A night terror is usually associated with emotional stress. They differ from a nightmare in that there is no visual content. The person while experiencing a one may appear to be choking, cry out, have increased perspiration and even sleep walk. They can wake with total amnesia or with just a vague sense of a terrifying image which is unclear and hazy . It can be very distressing for all involved as the patient maybe inconsolable on waking.

Night terrors are treated by first using hypnosis to reduce their occurrence and then  examining what is going on in your life right now. Hypnosis can access any unconscious emotional stresses that you may not even be aware of.
